Troy is a second year from San Diego majoring in Film, in hopes of directing commercials in the future. It was funny in the beginning because we couldn’t find a place to sit! We wondered around the different art galleries several times before finally settling on a rock in the courtyard. Troy played baseball in high school and is currently in NSU, which is a Japanese American club, which is ironic because I don’t think he is Japanese! But that’s alright. His favorite color is green and he enjoys listening to music that is on the radio. In his free time, he like to hang out with his friends and watching television for the commercials. Not like most people, who absolutely dread the commercial breaks in their favorite television programs. Troy is also in the Filipino club, also known as PAC, and I see him around sometimes at various events. I really liked interviewing Troy he is a very nice guy!
This week, I interviewed second year Lindsey Karasawa. Lindsey is currently a commuter from Cypress attending California State University Long Beach majoring in nutritional dietetics. Lindsey chose Long Beach to stay close to home, but also was accepted into Pepperdine University! Lindsey has known what she has wanted to do since she was a little kid. She said that when she was in her early teens, she used to obsess over food and the various foods that could and could not be eaten. She admitted that it used to be a sort of an obsession, but as she grew older it become a healthy lifestyle. I wish I was like Lindsey and be fully aware of my passion! When Lindsey does not attend school, she is working. She says that she doesn’t really have time for other hobbies because she doesn’t have any time. She has two jobs. One job at an optometry office and one in another office, both jobs she files paperwork and other things like that. Lindsey has two younger siblings, she is the oldest. Just like myself! And like me, her and her sibling did not get along that well. But unlike me, now that they are older they get along really well. Lindsey was a really nice girl and I’m glad I got the opportunity to interview her!
This week, I interviewed Tyler Hirata, a fellow Japanese! Tyler was born in Gardena but went to elementary school in Cypress. He is full Japanese! Oh yeah i already mentioned that… He is a local and commutes to California State Long Beach majoring in Information Systems. He is currently a third year. Tyler has one younger sister. He works on campus in the Academic Services Building and in his free time, he enjoys photography, video games, hanging out with friends, and watching movies. His favorite food is pizza and he doesn’t like desserts. Tyler is scared of heights and public speaking. His favorite music is EDM music, Indie, and rap music. His favorite color is blue. Tyler was the first person I interviewed that wrote down notes on a piece of paper instead of typing it on his phone. He used to collect bugs, like stick bugs, Beatles, bugs, and silk worms.
This week, I got to interview Jerome Guzman. We agreed to interview each other three weeks ago, but that never worked out, so I’m glad I finally got to interview! Jerome is a first year local from Long Beach, California. He went to high school at Long Beach Polytechnic, and is now majoring in Nursing at CSULB! He played basketball for two years while in high school and still continues to play today as a hobby. He is currently trying to learn how to surf as well! His favorite foods are Thai food and sushi. He is a middle child, he has on older brother and one younger brother. He doesn’t suffer from the middle child complex though! He actually really enjoys being the middle child. His first choice of school was UC Sand Diego, however he got weight listed and ended up not getting in. He regrets it because he really wanted to get out of Long Beach and live on his own, but he’s happy here at Long Beach. His greatest fear is drowning, and his favorite movie is Up! He even had a a grape soda pin on his back pack (in reference to Up). It was cute! I also liked his bucket it was very stylish. He said he was trying to be Schoolboy Q the rapper. He works at a scanning place, he said it was an office job and that it gets a little boring sometimes. He said that if he were to open up a store, it would be a drive through boba place! I thought that was a very clever idea because i love boba and I hate getting out of the car. It was really nice interviewing him!
This week, I interviewed Kevin Pham. Kevin is a third year majoring in computer engineering. He is an only child from Fountain Valley, California. He likes to chill and kick it with friends in his free time and works part time at a vape shop. I asked him to describe his job he said he helps people quit smoking! And he is a really good salesman. One time, a man walked in to buy one bottle of juice and he walked out with $600 dollars worth! Kevin likes to play basketball, football, and likes lifting weights. He’s those kinds of people that like to go to the beach at 6am for a morning swim. He loves the ocean, but claims that he’s afraid of what’s inside of it. He is a 6 foot 4 inch tall Vietnamese, which is very hard to come by he said. He also wears a size 14 shoe! As you can tell from the picture he is a very big guy! When it comes to food, Kevin will eat anything except fast food. The only fast food he eats is In n Out. Kevin doesn’t like spending money on clothes, but he will spend a lot of money on shoes. One interesting fact he told me about was how all of his friends share the same tattoo in the same exact spot!
This week I interviewed the lovely Conny Ramirez! She is a first year biology major currently adjusting to her new life at Cal State Long Beach. She is a commuter from Paramount where she lives with her family, including one older brother who also attends Cal State Long Beach as a senior and a little sister who is only five years old. For this weeks interview, I asked her a lot of questions about her favorites. Her favorite food is nachos, and she loves hero movies that include The Amazing Spiderman and X-men! That’s pretty cool if you ask me. She jams out to her favorite song Enlando by Enrique Iglesias on a daily basis and her favorite color is purple. In her free time, she enjoys reading and watching shows on netflix. She enjoys a lot of different shows, but one show we had in common that we liked to watch was Teen Wolf! But we both need to catch up on the series. She also told me that dogs are her favorite animal. Naturally, like all dog lovers, she does not like cats. However, her hatred for cats only came about because she used to have many little kittens but they all died. Poor kittens! She also had many other pets including rabbits, birds, hamsters, and a lot of fish. But unfortunately, all of her pets did not make it. I can relate to her because I had many pets that did not make it and it is a very sad thing to lose pets! At the end of the interview, we exchanged emails and said our goodbyes. It was a very pleasant interview because she was such a nice girl!
This week, I interviewed the lovely Kiara Kensi. She is a second year majoring in finance, but hopes to get into interior design in the near future. Miss Kiara Kensi is very exploratory. She has changed her majors two times before; she wanted to get into nursing and also majored in fashion merchandising for a short time. Originally from Victorville, she currently lives in Los Angeles with her grandma and commutes to school, however she lived in the dorms during her first year and described her dorming experience as “pretty lame”. She tried to find an apartment with her ex-roommate this school year around the area, but they unfortunately could not find the right apartment because they were both very picky about finding the perfect place, and they hope to find one next school year.
Kiara has a lot of siblings. On her mom’s side, she has a younger brother and sister along with a stepbrother and stepsister. On her dad’s side, she has two younger sisters, one younger brother, and one older brother. That’s a lot of siblings! Some observations I made about Kiara was her awesome hair! It was really long and organized into many little tiny braids. I also noticed her nose piercings and she said getting it did not hurt at all, and she also asked me about my cartilage piercing and said she was interested in getting one herself. Some facts about her are that her favorite store is Urban Outfitters and some of her greatest fears include spiders and heights.
